Senior Adult Care: The Game Changer
For all of those that know me, I clearly don’t miss many meals. I would even go so far as to say that I have a healthy relationship with food. Despite this very healthy relationship with all food establishments, my wife wont let me eat at Shoney's, Golden Corral, or any other establishment of the like. The reason being that she can't stand to see elderly people eating by themselves. Though she says it (mostly) in jest, there is a lot of truth to the comment.
Last year we saw a bunch of touching videos of families gathered around assisted living facility windows visiting loved ones. The pandemic kept families apart, but the videos all showed their families making an effort. There are millions of senior adults, however, who live in assisted living facilities that go unvisited and uncared for by loved ones. How have we let this happen to those we love most? The answer for this is the same answer for why, much to my wife’s chagrin, senior adults can be found eating by themselves at buffets. Life gets in the way and we get too busy. When one feels that their elderly family members’ needs are being met in assisted living, the need to check in on them becomes much less urgent. As with most things, though, being busy is really not an excuse.
As a consultant I find myself in conversations with different business owners every week. Every once in a while you run across a business owner or owners who really surprise you and are solving problems that completely stop you in your tracks. That happened this past week. On what was supposed to be a simple market research call, I ended up meeting Mike Clark and Rod Palmer. These two gentlemen have created an app that will change the way in-home care for senior adults is handled.
Currently, most care is scheduled through an agency. The agency takes a large percentage of the pay and, in turn, pays their people minimally. This lack of care for employees often leads to sub-par care for those that we love the most.
Dwell at Home is a convenient, stress-free way to find in-home care for your loved one. Dwell at Home is an app that connects seniors with in-home care partners, offering a more affordable, convenient, and personalized care option that you can trust. With this app, it is now possible to find a care partner in minutes as opposed to the typical hours or even days. By allowing care givers to find a path to self management, they will start bringing home more money which will, in turn, make them happier. Happier care givers leads to better care.
This dynamic duo is absolutely changing the future of in-home senior care through their unique approach of matching seniors with compassionate care partners. These matches are based on personality, hobbies, interests, and preferences which ensures a better fit for both the cared for and the care giver alike. With this matching, senior citizens can find a high level of friendship from those that are coming to take care of them. This is huge and completely unique to Dwell at Home.
Senior adults deserve the best we have to offer for all they’ve done for our families, our country, and our world. With Dwell at Home, you’re bringing the best to their doorstep.
I felt really compelled to share the story of this Birmingham based startup because, though there exists an intriguing business aspect to their company, they are also solving a problem that I don’t think many people even know exists. These two men changed their lives completely around by cashing in retirements and selling off property so that they could invest in this platform with the intention of improving senior care and senior morale across the country. I will leave a link to their website down below. Take some time to check them out.
Enjoy,
