COVID is Filled with Hidden Opportunities

Business is really scary right now. Something I noticed talking with multiple business owners this last week is that COVID has so many opportunities, however, some of you are looking at the problem as if it isn't solvable.

Most of you have been drastically impacted by COVID and some of you are dealing with the fact that your slow down is just now starting because you were dealing with two and three month lag times for orders. Some of you are extremely scared about the rest of the year because your pipeline is going dry.

The biggest thing I can share with you is that you are not alone. Though it is taking a long time, most people are waking up and realizing that COVID-19 is a long, cold winter and things are not going back to normal. With an entire world learning how to adapt, there is a whole blue ocean of opportunity within this process of adaptation. It's time to start looking to see how you can find a fit.

This blue ocean of opportunity will not last long, but it can help you get to the next step better than before. You should be sitting down with your team this week and asking the question, "How do we adapt our normal service(s) for COVID related services?"

Some of you might be saying that you have already done that. No; what you did was to adapt your services to handle a temporary shut down. Now we are facing a nation that will have a majority of their kids staying home from school and learning. We will have a majority of parents staying home from work to take care of their kids. COVID is creating a new norm and people are uncomfortable and scared about the changes that are happening.

The Tidbit for today:

A great mentor once taught me, "When the pain of your current situation doesn't outweigh the pain to change you will never change. But when the pain of your current situation outweighs the pain to change, you will change." Consumers will be buying products and services that help them adapt to the changing environment because they all want to get back to that sense of predictability and comfort. So today, look at the changing landscape and find the opportunities that COVID has provided for you and your business that would normally not be there. Then determine how to deliver on that opportunity.
